Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has withdrawn from the France squad following injury in training. While Roma’s Jordan Vertout has been call up to the squad.

Pogba suffered an injury during training with the France national team that limped off the pitch on Monday. 

The French Football Federation has confirmed Pogba has to withdraw, with coach Didier Deschamps recalling Roma midfielder Jordan Vertout.

Pogba’s injury has been the worst news for Manchester United after a disappointing performance this season. And just lost at home to Manchester City 0-2 in a derby match last saturday.

Deschamps defended his decision to include ‘leader’ Pogba in his latest France squad, with the midfielder badly struggling for form at club level with Manchester United.

‘Paul in the French team is important. He is a leader,’ the France head coach told reporters.

‘It’s not the same situation at his club Manchester United.

‘Above that, he received a red card and was suspended for three games. But he is part of the list of players who arrive happy to be here, but with regret of what happens with his club.’
